Where is the Bee Hives Hill located?
Bee Hives Hill is located in the forest reserved of Bukit Senggeh in Jasin district. It situated about 20KM from a small town, Selandar. The hill is a fractions from range of Mount Titiwangsa. Its area is about 208 hectar. Bee Hives Hill is about 500M to 600M from the sea level.
What is so special about Bee Hives Hill?
One of the special attraction of the hill is it is very suitable for the beginner hikers before they go for the higher mountain. At the middle of the hill, there is a rock platform that was made by nature. From the platform, you can enjoy the nature scene of Kampung Bukit Senggeh and its surrounding areas. On the horizon, we can see the straits of Melaka. By using binocular, you can see clearly the ships in the straits. You can also see many bee hives at the rock. Besides the splendid picture at height, we can also see plenty of rocks with different shapes. You also can have the experience walk through the small cave there. Besides that, Bee Hives Hill is also the home for a variety of animals birds, small mammals, reptiles and different types of monkeys. But you do not have to worry, there is no dangerous animal there.
What are the famous tales of this place?
This place is situated far from city and near to the old village; of course there are plenty of tales from the local old folks. The most famous tales is about the giant bee hives which situated at the bottom of the rock platform where the hill got its name. The local people did not dare to harvest the honey because they believe the bee is the hill guardian and it may curse those who harvest the honey. Another interesting story about the hill is about one of the giant rock that shaped like a ship. The local believe that is the remains of Si Tanggang’s (the famous Malay tale) ship. Another story is about the small cave. If you go in, you wont be able to get through if you are a person who disrespect your mother.
