Malacca Zoo – Malaysia’s Second Largest Zoo

Zoo Melaka or Malacca Zoo is located at Ayer Keroh, which is not very far from the Ayer Keroh highway exit. It is one of the attractions in Malacca not only from local visitors but also from international visitors. The strategic location between Ayer Keroh and North-South Highway make it convenience for tourists to drop by.

The Malacca Zoo is one of the oldest zoo in Malaysia and it has many extinct species of animals such as The Red Panda. It is not really a panda which used to be associated with China, this is a rare species. If you would like to know what is it, why not you have a look yourself at Malacca Zoo? Besides, those who always love animals might find it enjoyable watching various types of species in the zoo.

Who said you cannot have fun watching the animals? You do not have to watch the animals from the cage only but you can also see it live within your reach because the animals are not set up in cages, they are free to move around the mini safari. The mini safari allocates about 80 animals from about 16 species altogether. Visitors can walk along the bridge to see the animals within your reach. Of course it will not harm you because only the selected species were chosen to be placed in the mini safari. This is the latest attraction by Malacca Zoo. The adults will be charged RM7 while children only RM4 for the entrance fee to Mini Safari.

The Malacca Zoo also has some special animals’ show. The show will starts from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. for Monday to Thursday and for Saturday, Sunday and public holidays; the show will be at 10 to 11 in the morning and 2 to 3 P.M. There are special activities such as interaction with the elephants and ride the horse or elephant or feed the elephants. As for the interaction with elephants, there is no fee but as for the rides the visitors have to pay RM2 for adults and RM1 for children. To feed the elephants also will be charged RM2 and if you want to take a picture with your own camera, you have to pay RM2.

Apart from that, the Malacca Zoo has already introduced the Night Zoo recently. If you have no plan during the night, why not try out this activity! However, it is only open on Friday, Saturday and during public holidays. The operating time starts from 8 P.M. to 11 P.M. and the entrance fees for adults are RM10 while children are RM5.

How to get to the Malacca Zoo?

If you are traveling from outside Malacca using the PLUS highway, exit at the Ayer Keroh interchange and go straight until you see the signboard of Zoo Melaka. It is as simple as that and we don’t think a map is required
